About Us — The Ponderosa Estate | Eagle, Idaho

About The Ponderosa Estate

A real home, small on purpose.

We started The Ponderosa Estate because we believed there was a better way to care for people we love. Sixteen residents. A real home. A staff that knows your name and the little details that matter.

Our Mission

People who actually know your loved one.

01

A Home, Not a Facility

Residents are not in a wing or a unit. They are home, with living rooms, a kitchen, a garden, a patio, and familiar daily rhythms.
02

Your Own Space

Every resident has a private room that is truly theirs, with room for furniture, photos, and routines.
03

Small on Purpose

With only 16 residents, nobody gets lost in the shuffle. Staff have the time to give real attention.

Our Core Values

Compassion over procedure.

We care about the person, not just the care plan. Every decision starts with asking what is actually best for the person in front of us.

Good food, a clean home, attentive staff, and genuine warmth. We hold ourselves to a high standard because your family deserves nothing less. And when memory begins to change, we offer memory support and our coming memory care residence.

Our Story

A family-owned home, not a chain.

The Ponderosa Estate is a family-owned assisted living home in Eagle, Idaho, owned and run by Andy Bouchie and Todd Duplain — two people you will actually meet, in the building every day, engaged in the details, sitting with residents, welcoming families at the door.

Before we ever drew a floor plan, we were the families on the other side of the desk. We sat through the tours. We watched people we love navigate life inside large facilities, and we felt the distance that creeps in — loved ones becoming room numbers, visits growing shorter, questions answered with brochures instead of straight talk.

Everywhere we looked, the same problems repeated. Care levels that changed without a clear reason, and bills that grew with them. Beautiful lobbies with impersonal care behind them. Meals nobody looked forward to. Caregivers who rotated so often no one could learn a name. None of it felt like home — because none of it was built to be one.

So we built the answer instead. One all-inclusive rate, with no surprise upcharges. Sixteen residents, not a hundred. Caregivers who stay long enough to know your mother’s coffee order. And to carry the vision every day, we searched until we found Abigail, our administrator.

That’s the whole story: two families who lived the problem, building the home they wished had existed.

Our Administrator

Meet Abigail, our administrator.

Abigail's path in senior care began with her own family. As a teenager, she helped care for her grandmother through the early stages of dementia, an experience that shaped the way she sees every resident and every family.

Today, Abigail leads The Ponderosa Estate with a clear promise: families should feel heard, residents should feel known, and care should be delivered with dignity, consistency, and warmth.

  • Licensed assisted living administrator in Idaho
  • Medication technician and hands-on caregiver background
  • Focused on open family communication and personalized care
"My passion is to make residents feel special, loved, and genuinely cared for." — Abigail Hurtado
