Team Announcement
Meet Abigail Hurtado, our administrator.
The steady presence families meet first, and the person helping protect the standard of care inside The Ponderosa Estate.
When a family starts looking for assisted living, they are not only looking for a room, a meal plan, or a beautiful building. They are looking for someone they can trust.
At The Ponderosa Estate in Eagle, Idaho, that person is Abigail Hurtado.
A path that started at home
Abigail’s story in senior care began in her grandmother’s home. At the end of her junior year, she moved in to help care for her grandmother through the early stages of dementia.
She helped with daily activities, ran errands, and kept her company. What stayed with Abigail was a quiet worry: what about the seniors who do not have someone like me?
On her 18th birthday, Abigail walked into a senior care community near her high school in Emmett and asked for a job. She started as a caregiver during her senior year. When COVID reached the building, she worked overnight shifts caring for residents during one of the most frightening and isolating moments many families had ever faced.
It was not what she expected, but she is grateful she was there for them. That experience helped turn senior care into something more than work. It became a calling.
From caregiver to licensed administrator
In 2023, Abigail returned to assisted living care and grew quickly. She became a medication technician within three months, then moved into assistant administrator responsibilities six months later.
She continued expanding her clinical and operational knowledge, completed Idaho’s administrator training requirements, logged 800 supervised hours, and passed the state licensing exam.
That path, from her grandmother’s home to a licensed administrator role, shapes how Abigail wants families to feel at The Ponderosa Estate: heard, reassured, and confident that their loved one is being cared for with dignity.
My passion is to make residents feel special, loved, and genuinely cared for. Abigail Hurtado, Administrator
Her promise to families
Abigail wants every Ponderosa family to feel truly heard, and to walk out the door without the knot of worry they came in with. Too often, families go home still wondering whether their loved one is being treated with respect and dignity. That weight is something she takes personally.
Her goal is to ease that mental load through luxury, personalized care from a team that understands one simple truth: this is the resident’s home.
Compassion and kindness are not just values posted on a wall. They are the standard by which everything here is measured.
Known by name
With only 16 private rooms, residents are not treated like room numbers. The team knows their routines, preferences, stories, and needs.
Consistent family updates
Families should not be left wondering. Weekly check-ins, prompt responses, and open communication are part of the standard of care.
Care that stays personal
Abigail helps protect a culture where warmth, attention, and dignity are not reserved for tour day. They are expected at all times.
What exceptional care looks like
For Abigail, luxury care is not just about interior design or amenities, although The Ponderosa Estate takes those seriously. It is about residents being well-groomed, engaged in meaningful activities, served fresh meals that feel like home, and cared for by people who are easy to find, warm, responsive, and present.
It is also about consistency. Families should not feel that a community puts on a different version of itself for visitors. The same care families see during a tour should be the care residents receive after everyone goes home.
The first tour should already feel personal
Abigail believes trust begins before a family ever walks through the front door. She wants to speak with families before a scheduled tour, introduce herself, learn who they are searching for, and understand the questions or worries they are carrying.
On tour day, those details matter. A warm welcome, a calm home, gentle music, good lighting, a clean environment, and a team that remembers what was shared all help families feel that their loved one will be seen here.
Everyone here is known
One of the things Abigail is most intentional about is what it means to be a 16 resident community. At that scale, no one gets lost in the shuffle. Staff can notice small changes, celebrate small wins, and build the kind of familiarity that makes a place feel like home.
She is also intentional about the team around her. Skill matters. Training matters. But so does genuine warmth, patience, and the ability to make a resident feel seen.
A note to families in the Treasure Valley
If you are searching for assisted living in Eagle, Meridian, Boise, or the surrounding Treasure Valley, we know the process can feel overwhelming. There are a lot of choices, and they are not always easy to compare from the outside.
What we can tell you is this: Abigail is the kind of administrator families can talk to. She notices details. She cares about follow through. She treats every resident the way we would want our own family member treated.
We think you will feel that when you walk through the door.
